2. When did you know you wanted to be a racing driver?
When I was a young teenager I went to my first auto race. I liked it but never had the time or money until later in life.
3. Was there anyone specific who inspired you to race?
No
4. What was the first formula you raced in?
Pure Street Stock, about the equivalent of Super Prive.
5. What different formula’s have you raced in?
Pure Street Stock, Modified Street Stock, Open Wheel Modifieds, Auto Cross, Rodeo and Camso V8.
6. You were one of the founding drivers of the CAMSO V8 Championship, what inspired you to bring American Late models to Europe?
I heard about the Rodeo class in Holland. I bought a Dirt late model with the idea of taking it to Barrlo and sell it. It was so much fun I never put it up for sale. When the tracks closed I heard about the racing in Belgium. So I brought my car to Belgium. Roland and I started talking about building the Asphalt Late Model and we developed the CAMSO V8. As low cost as possible with maximum fun.
7. Has the championship grown to meet your expectations?
Yes and it has grown at about the right pace.
8. Who’s your favourite racing driver?
After myself, Jeff Gordon of NASCAR.
9. What goes through your mind during a high-speed crash?
How much is going to cost and how much work is it going to take to repair it.
10. If you had the opportunity to race in any formula, what would you choose and why?
NASCAR SPRINT CUP (formerly NEXTEL CUP) They race nearly every week and nearly all year.
11. Do you get scared before or during a race?
No, but I have a lot of respect for what the cars can do. Horse power and speed.
12. Do you prefer racing on dirt or asphalt?
I miss getting sideways on dirt but I don’t miss the car washing. They are both fun.
13. We hear you make a 1000 mile round trip to get to Warneton Speedway, what makes CAMSO V8 so special?
It is the only place to race my car. It is also a lot of fun. The track is ran well and most of the time you know what to expect.
14. Your race car’s a Chevy Monte Carlo, your truck’s a Chevy, your hat’s Chevy, your coat’s Chevy, your shoes are Chevy…. What’s your favourite Chevy of all time?!
The 57 Belair.
