All the new CAMSO V8s use Lefthander Chassis off set late model chassis and General Motors 400/400 circle track crate engine. But it hasn’t always been this way! Check out some of the weird and wonderful machines that have raced in the CAMSO V8 Championship!
#28 Chevrolet Corvette Driver: Mark Gent
This former Busch series car was knocking on the door of 800bhp when it was racing in CAMSO V8! Something CAMSO may ask Mark to change if he ever returned to the championship.
#52 Chevrolet Camaro Driver: Dave Van Harleem
This Camaro was raced in the semi-contact Rodeo class at Barlow Speedway before becoming a CAMSO V8 regular.
#99 Mercedes C Class Driver: John Cross
This former Eurocar joined the CAMSO V8s for the Lydden Invasion meeting in 2006. It can usually be found racing in the DMN road circuit championship.
#37 BMW 3 Series Driver: Peter Finis
This car was built for Spedeworths ill-fated V8 Hotrod series. It was a regular runner in CAMSO V8 in the early days.

Racing in the rain (I’m raaaaacing in the rain! What a glooooooorious feeeeeling…)
Once upon a time the CAMSO V8 cars were fitted with very soft Hoosier cut-slick tyres to see if racing was possible in the rain. And it was! The problem was that the wheel spin and getting the cars turned into the corners made the racing so slow, it was boring to watch. Now CAMSO has a state of the art satellite weather monitoring system, which allows the CAMSO V8s to venture out as soon as the weather breaks and finish their race before the rain starts. Some of CAMSOs other fantastic racing formula keep the spectators entertained in the mean time. Using this system, the CAMSO V8s are yet to have a race cancelled because of the weather.
